ProLight Opto, a maker of high-power LEDs based in Taiwan has introduced the new COB G-II series of LEDs. ProLight says it newly upgraded COB G-II series, features LEDs binned to within a 2-step MacAdam ellipse. The company said that through reselection (improved binning) and enhanced materials such as dies it was able to increase the output of the G-II series by up to 5 to 10 percent. According to ProLight, the wattage range of the G-II series of 7W-260W covers applications from LED bulbs to mercury lamp replacement.
ProLight’s R&D director pointed out that the COB G-II series also includes a new COB product with an extremely high
color rendering of above CRI 95 (in both neutral and warm white). The company created this high CRI model to be used for studio lighting to show superior color saturation.
Furthermore, the company was able to maintain the same footprint and circuit in the COB G-II as its predecessor. This same footprint and circuitry allow easy replacement without changes of drivers or other components. ProLight, says that the new series like all of the company’s COB LEDs have been tested for LM-80 and TM-21 to ensure reliability.
