Luminus Introduces Two New UV-C LEDs

Sunnyvale, California-based Luminus Devices, Inc., added two new 280 nm devices to its ultraviolet (UV) LED portfolio.
The company intends the new UV-C LEDs for use in medical and health and well-being products. The 350 mA standard footprint 3535 surface mount emitter features a peak output up to 60 mW. The second ultra-compact emitter measures 1.3 mm by 1.3 mm and 0.85 mm tall. It delivers 3 mW at 20 mA and provides a peak output of 11 mW at 100 mA.

“Air, surface and water disinfection markets will see a significant number of new products and new product categories over the next 36 months,” said Stephane Bellosguardo, VP of Specialty Lighting Marketing. “Just as the computer industry was driven by ever smaller and faster processors, so will be the innovation in markets like air and water purification with miniature products like our 1313 UV-C LED.”

New 3535 and 1313 UV-C LEDs for Disinfection and Sterilization

Luminus’ new 3535 and 1313 UV-C LEDs offer 280 nm light for disinfection and sterilization.

“UV LED-based industrial applications are already growing rapidly and represent an increasingly important segment of our non-visible specialty products alongside infra-red emitters,” said Bellosguardo.
