Luminus Devices, Inc., of Sunnyvale, California USA, announced the Gen 2 XH Series chip-on-board (COB) LED array.
The LED array boasts substantial increases in light output and density, as well as improved color rendering.
Luminus says that the Gen 2 XH Series directly addresses the requirements of lighting designers and retailers who want (directed center beam candle power) punch and the ability to create dramatic effects.
“The punch and light quality necessary to create dramatic visuals are now available from an LED package,” said David Davito, Senior Director of Global Product Marketing, Illumination. “Our Gen 2 XH will finally enable retail users to eliminate metal halide across the board. Along with our ‘below the black body’ Sensus COBs, our customers can now create a full portfolio of retail lighting solutions.”
According to Luminus, the LED array features a center beam candlepower greater than that of a 35W or even a 70W metal halide. The LED array also has an impressive CRI of up to 98 (nominally a minimum of 95) and comes in correlated color temperatures of 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K. The array comes with a range of light emitting surface diameters of 6, 9, 11 or 14 mm.
Performance Specifications of Gen 2 XH Arrays
The instant on and instant restartable light source boasts a minimum of 50,000 hour LM80 and TM21 projected lifetime.
The 3000K and 90+ CRI version of the CHM-6-XH20 features a beam angle of just 8 degrees and delivers a center beam candle power of 30,000 candelas. It has a typical luminous flux of 1285lm from a round chip with a diameter of just 6.3mm. The 95+CRI model features a typical output of somewhat less, 1230lm.
The 3000K and 90+ CRI version of the CHM-9-XH20 provides a beam angle of 10 degrees and delivers a center beam candle power of 40,000 candelas. It has a typical luminous flux of 2590lm from a round chip with a diameter of just 9mm. The 95+CRI version of the CHM-9-XH20 has a typical output of somewhat less, 2480lm.
The LED arrays also come in versions with minimum CRIs of 80 or 90. Specifications for the Luminus Gen 2 XH can be found here, and the products can now be purchased through Luminus’ global distribution network. Luminus backs all the new LED arrays with a 5-year limited warranty.
